Dry eye is the most frequently diagnosed ocular disorder worldwide. Artificial tear products are front line therapy for this condition with this market showing growth of over 30% annually. Other tear products do not address healing of the ocular surface and only provide a temporary relief of symptoms; thereby providing the motivation for Dr. Holly to develop uniquely effective formulations.

All 4 tear formulations are the first to enhance wettability of ocular surface cells. NUTRATEAR, containing Vitamin B12, is for mild dry eye & overuse of computers. DAKRINA, DWELLE & FRESHKOTE are the only products with high oncotic pressures (~65mm/Hg) and are for Moderate to Severe dry eye. DAKRINA has also been found effective in mucin-deficient dry eye due to its polymer-solubilized vitamin A; bio-available to the ocular surface and DAKRINA is the only tear clinically shown to increase goblet cell density in Sjogren's syndrome patients in a study at Duke University by Dr. Gary Foulks. All 4 formulations are in compliance with the FDA Ophthalmic Monograph. FreshKote, Dakrina & Dwelle have been cleared for OTC Marketing in the UK by the MHRA (British Regulatory Authority) but are not yet on the market. FRESHKOTE (code: APL-105) was approved in all European Union Countries in November 2006. All 4 tears are preserved with the highly effective but yet totally non-irritating preservative, polyquaternium-42 (also known as polixetonium).
